The
Therapeutic Model
The therapeutic model I utilize is a non-rational process based on a direct
one-on-one energy transference. My life is a link in the ancient oral tradition
of the Hermetic Sciences, a direct transmission from genuine adapts. For most
the experience is perceived as an expanded-altered state, a non-ordinary state
of consciousness. For me it is a way of life. It is a framework that I was born
with. I have always seen the world from this expanded state. I was conscious and
aware of the this formless energy and intelligence that contains everything, all
form, at birth.
Even though this awareness is innate in all human beings, there is a process
of initiation required for most. It is spiritual in nature in that it transcends
any concept one can hold in the rational mind. It is a challenge to convey to
someone that in the process you learn to do nothing! Seems antithetical to the
rational mind. You become more by doing less! It is a shift in focus of
attention. A shift in identification of self from the outer-world to the silence
of the true inner-nature, which is bliss, happiness, freedom and infinitely
wise.
When you know your own Self, that's the beginning of life. Until then you're
living in a dream of a false self, a dream of suffering." To realize what's
here it is necessary to stop all practicing, efforting, doing, learning,
gaining, proving, concepts of right and wrong, good and bad, better and worse,
higher and lower. One's own Self can be seen in this full stop. We have the
choice to listen to silence; simple, pristine, natural silence.
The habit of the false identity is to look outside for more, for better and
different distractions, resisting what is scary, and chasing desires. If one
stops and turns inward to what is right here, one finds a core of stillness even
in the midst of pride, anger, hurt, lust, or fear.
I explore how stopping is avoided, and how we have seduced ourselves into a
dream of suffering. Before one can see the value of stopping one has to see the
suffering caused by the incessant movement of mind in strategy. This is possible
for everyone who has the willingness to see what they are worshiping instead of
this natural silence.
As the church has waned in importance, our culture has become a religion of
sexuality and materialism. Most are card carrying members without even knowing.
They seek happiness, validation and enlightenment through acquisition and
sensation. They live with the hollow belief that physical matter is the only
reality and that everything, including thought, feeling, mind, and will, can be
explained in terms of matter and physical phenomena. A theory or attitude that
physical well-being and worldly possessions constitute the greatest good and
highest value in life. If you haven't seen this in action, go to any mega-mall
on Sunday. There you will find the throngs "angrily" pushing each
other about in search of their identity. Reveling at the alter of stuff, they
religiously tithe at the cash register. Ever more despondent, they look outside
self for happiness through the acquisition of externals.
Driven by advertising and the media, this is the basis of all addiction and
suffering. You are programed to desire "things" or a
"feeling." You are programed to believe that this will lead to
happiness. In truth, all desire leads to suffering. If desire is the day-to-day
experience then suffering is the outcome. The things "own" you. You
don’t own the things. The more you "have," the more there is a
mounting terror of loss, the terror of lost identify and worldly validation.
Metaphorically, the fences and gates go up around the house. Fear of loss and
suffering become a way of life. You are doomed to suffer when you ignore the
truth of who you are.
Through one-on-one and group dialogue, movement and video, I point people
inward toward the silence and peace of the authentic-self, to their inner truth
and happiness. It is innate. It is a choice. It is experiential, an amorphous
boundless process and how that is accomplished is unique to each individual.
Ultimately, it is the truth of the silent power of spirit that heals.
